Another semester at Humber College has come to an end, and we had the opportunity to attend the annual “Humber Games” - a full day of games, skills based competitions, camaraderie and lots of laughs!  Once again, the event was held at the YMCA Cedar Glen, and despite the erratic weather we’ve been experiencing lately, the group lucked out with mild temperatures and even some spots of sunshine!

We always have a great time attending these types of events and are constantly impressed by the level of support and encouragement that the arborists, new and old, show each other, even when in competition.   The sense of community amongst Arborists is truly incredible and is a huge reason why we love what we do!

It was a lot of fun chatting with the new guns in the industry and watching them compete in the various challenges.   The four-way tug of war was an interesting event, and one that was really fun to watch.  I am quite sure the competitors had a ball too!  Even some of the Instructors and Techs also got to get in on the fun in their free time, tackling a few of the challenges they had set up for the students.  Krista was so engrossed in the throw ball event that I have to wonder if she is STILL there playing, or if she finally retired and made it back home with what I can only imagine was a very sore arm?!

We would like to thank Mark Graves, Bob Smith and Humber College for the invite and we hope we can be part of this event for many years to come.

To all the new Arborists - please work safely.  Do not take short cuts. Remember what your Instructors and Techs have taught at school this year.  Stay safe.

See you next year,

- Ernesto
